Just got my Adobe developer’s newsletter yesterday. When I upgraded my old trusty PageMaker 6.5 to InDesign CS2 a while back, they must have put me on every mailing list they have. For once I’m glad someone presumed what I might want.
While Microsoft is trying to bamboozle its way into getting OOXML made an ISO standard, Adobe has been busy making sure they have the universal interchangeable document format in PDF and an RIA programming language that could become the de facto standard. With the release of the free Air player for Linux as well as Windows and Mac, they’re covering every possible contingency. With Mozilla on board and Flex 3.0 being released into the Open Source continuum, they are a behemoth when it comes to rich internet applications and content development.
Even thoough I haven’t coded in years, I am intrigued by the possibilities that Flex offers. Adobe has been a force in the content creation industry for years. Flex gives them the means to leverage the content created by their proprietary applications and push those formats into even wider acceptance.
